Between spring and December of this year, three separate corners inside city limits have added or will add sit-down restaurants, and the community calendar at Dutch Branch Park is fuller than it's been in years. If you already live here, the practical question isn't whether Benbrook is changing. It's how to plan around the changes without missing the good stuff.
Here's what's on the ground, in the order you're most likely to encounter it.
The Corner At Benbrook Boulevard And Westpark
The clearest signal of the shift sits at 9300 Benbrook Drive, the southwest corner of Benbrook Boulevard and Westpark Drive. The Benbrook Economic Development Corporation broke ground with MAD Concepts Group and Blue Plate Network on a restaurant park featuring two full-service restaurants, each with a full bar, outdoor seating, and a shared "backyard" experience with dedicated play areas.
The two tenants opened this spring. Jakes Burgers held its official grand opening on Monday, April 13, 2026, following a soft-opening week from April 8 through April 12. Tacos & Avocados was scheduled to open later in April.
The scale matters. The two restaurants are each roughly 4,000 to 5,000 square feet with full bars and expansive patio seating, anchored by a shared 1.5-acre backyard designed for casual dining, play, and year-round community use. That is not a strip-center footprint. It is a destination footprint, and the project is expected to create up to 150 new jobs, which is meaningful for a city Benbrook's size.
The menus themselves lean local. Tacos & Avocados fuses traditional Mexican cooking techniques with Texas-inspired flavors, and signature items include authentic Birria and Barbacoa, along with Shiner-Braised Brisket Tacos, Fire-Grilled Fajitas, and Queso Blanco. Jakes leans the other direction. Founded in Dallas in 1985, it is known for double-patty burgers, hand-cut fries, and ice-cold beer, with existing locations including Aledo, Grapevine, Mansfield, and Fort Worth's Sundance Square.

Taco Bell's Third Try, One Mile Away
A mile east on the same road, another opening tells a different kind of story. Activity is underway at the former Dairy Queen at 8636 Benbrook Blvd, and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a registered remodel conversion of the existing Dairy Queen building into a Taco Bell, covering roughly 3,400 square feet, filed on October 10, 2025. Construction was scheduled to begin January 1, 2026, with an anticipated completion of February 1, and franchisee Southern Multifoods posted job listings targeting a February 2026 launch.
That address has a memory. This is Taco Bell's third attempt to plant roots in Benbrook, and past locations near where Pasiano's now sits and near the AT&T store did not last, while the same building even housed a Taco Villa back in 2009. The interesting angle for residents isn't the burrito. It's the cluster. Taco Bell will sit right next to Taco Bueno, with 3 Parrots Taco Shop just down the road, Taco Casa further south, and Tacos & Avocados arriving at the Westpark corner. One two-mile stretch of Benbrook Boulevard now has five taco options within walking distance of each other, which is a first for the city.
A Landman Set Piece, Turning Real
The third opening is the one guests will ask about. On Camp Bowie West Blvd, just outside city limits but firmly inside the "short drive" radius, a location most Benbrook residents will recognize from television is becoming a restaurant. The space, previously featured as "Patch Cafe" on the TV series Landman, will soon welcome guests as a full-service Texas-themed eatery, and owner Philip Murrin announced that the family-run restaurant will serve classic Texas fare, including steaks and chicken-fried steaks, prepared by the culinary team at River Ranch Stockyards.
A premium ice cream shop, Rosebuds Picnic Supply, will open this summer alongside it, offering sandwiches and salads, as part of Murrin's vision to revitalize the neighborhood retail center his family built in 1951, at 9840 and 9812 Camp Bowie West Blvd., positioned between Fort Worth and growing communities like Aledo, Benbrook, Veale Ranch, and Walsh Ranch.
For the west-side reader who already drives Camp Bowie for gas and groceries, this changes the shape of an ordinary Saturday.

Heritage Fest, September 19
The community calendar is catching up to the tables. The 18th Annual Heritage Fest returns to Dutch Branch Park on September 19, 2026, and children ages seven and under are invited to run the barrels at the event. The lineup is the western fair the city has built the event around for nearly two decades. Expect:
- A free, family-friendly day with live music, community performances, mechanical bull riding, a petting zoo, mini golf, interactive competitions, a chuckwagon dinner, and a street dance
- A Corn on the Cob Eating Competition on Saturday, September 19 with cash prizes, free registration, limited space, and a sign-up deadline of August 31
- A Dog Costume Contest open to dogs of all sizes competing for cash prizes, with free registration and a bone for every participant
Given the corn-eating deadline is late August, this is a "put it on the calendar this week" item, not a "figure it out later" one.
The Weeknight Stuff You'd Already Know If You've Been Here A While
The new restaurant park will draw the headlines. The weeknight rhythms are what make living here feel like living somewhere. A few worth naming:
Wednesday nights at Benbrook Par 3. A weekly scramble runs on Wednesday evenings, with a chipping contest at 6:30 PM and the scramble beginning at 7:00 PM. Casual, walkable, cheaper than dinner for four.

D-BAT Benbrook. The Back 2 School Camp returned on August 3, and the facility runs youth programming through the fall.

All land around Benbrook Lake is open to pedestrian use, the one-and-a-half-mile-long top of the dam is popular for joggers and bicyclists, and birdwatching, hiking, bicycling and fishing are popular activities. All Day Use Parks and their shorelines close at 9 PM, and recreation in Day Use Parks after 9 PM is strictly prohibited, so plan the sunset walk accordingly.
One Night In December, Worth Blocking Now
The last date to hold on the calendar is a familiar one. Benbrook's 35th Annual Tree Lighting and Fireworks Show is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2026, at Dutch Branch Park behind the Benbrook Community Center YMCA at 1899 Winscott Rd, starting at 7 PM, with Mr. and Mrs. Claus arriving on a fire truck, pictures in an old-time sleigh, hot cocoa, tree lighting, and fireworks. It is the kind of low-lift, high-return evening that quietly explains why people who move here tend to stay.
